AT&T updates Samsung Galaxy S4 shipping date to April 23

Galaxy S4 on AT&T

AT&T has updated the Samsung Galaxy S4 pre-order page and there is a new shipping date - April 23. The previous versions had a shipping date of April 30 for the phone, which put it a week past T-Mobile (April 24) and Sprint (April 27). The price remains the same at $639 or $199 with a new agreement for the 16GB model.

Of course we can't be sure that this date is final, but all of us would like to see it sooner rather than later. There's a lot there to love, and we certainly can't wait to have our very own for the requisite fondling.

Are you ordering an S4 from one of the carriers? Be sure to let us know who you're rolling with in our poll, then head into the forums where at least you can wait with friends.

More April Fools images Google + and + emotion

:(

Google does not stop at the April Fools tricks, and this made many people fall for it--an algorithm that automatically inserts the right smiley Google + the photo based on the facial expressions people on it. Dubbed + emotions, it said "the plumb the emotional depths of each image, then summed up the feelings of our beautifully crafted emotion icon" with the push of a button.

Of course, there is no such button, but people commented on Google + posting that seems to want it, and enough to cheat. We can't blame them, it certainly sounds like Google could-and-take.

We are used to with Google pulling an April Fool's joke, the silliness a little bit, but this year they seem to have kicked things into high gear. 24 hours to go, we expect to see more before it is all over.

HTC One $100 trade-in deal extended to April 4th

HTC One trade in promo

Not overly impressed with Samsung's latest offering? HTC is here for you. The deal that started last month has been extended -- buy an HTC One and get a $100 Visa gift card when send in your old smartphone. All you have to do is sign up online by the new deadline to qualify for the deal. After you register with HTC by April 4th, just send your HTC One proof of purchase and old phone in to HTC to claim your $100 Visa card. Easy money.

HTC says the extension is due to "overwhelming response" from fans, but we suspect the reported delay in shipments of the phone might also be a factor.

No doubt there were a lot of people waiting for the Galaxy S4 announcement before signing up for any manufacturer promotions. The competition between these two phones is going to be fierce, and a free 100 big ones from HTC is going to make the choice that much more interesting.
