The news that Google Reader is closed for good later this year has hit many of us really hard. For many it is the go-to-the way to get your daily news fix and others--such as all the staff--is an essential tool that will help us reach the next working day. There are alternatives, but we miss the Google Reader.

One such option is Feedly and the team announced an avalanche of new users. In the first 48 hours following the announcement of Google's Feedly has seen 500,000 new Google Reader users to join their ranks. Not bad numbers, because the service is supposed to be. Feedly is a guest of the iOS, Chrome, Safari and Firefox, so it's really a big chunk of the basics are handled. Power the reason is probably the fact that the transition to Google Reader Feedly users to develop system over seamlessly when shut down at the end of the day arrives.

Feedly has also announced how they cope with the increased user base, massively increase the bandwidth and the addition of new servers. And if you have all the function rather than fashion, Feedly team has also written sweet tips on how to make the less beautiful and more functional. A lot of stuff.
