Samsung “Just for You” teaser tips upcoming Galaxy J release in Taiwan

Samsung recently dropped the “Just for You” teaser video on YouTube and it measures in at 22 seconds in length and appears to be offering a look at the Galaxy J. This isn’t the only time we have seen talk of the Galaxy J recently, however this one is from Samsung as opposed to a leak. One key with the video though, this is from Samsung Taiwan, which suggests where the handset is heading.

The video doesn’t reveal much in the way of specifics and shows the outline of the Galaxy J as well as the Galaxy Gear smartwatch. The watch is showing a time of 1PM and a date of Monday, December 9th. Coincidentally, that is the same date and time we saw with a previous leaked Galaxy J image. More to the point here, it appears the Galaxy J will be announced in Taiwan this coming Monday.

Watching the video and you get a few details, but Samsung appears to have this video lined more as a teaser than anything. There is a mention of being “just fast” with a showing of LTE, but otherwise, there was a mention of handset coming soon and further “just” lines including; Just fit, just simple, just elegant and just for you. The video does show the brushed metal back and what appears to be a thin profile. Samsung, perhaps for good measure, also included a diamond sitting on the back.

While this teaser seems to suggest the Galaxy J will soon be announced in Taiwan, this handset isn’t a complete mystery. That doesn’t mean Samsung will have it with an exact match on the specs, but the Galaxy J is already known in Japan. The Japanese variant includes a 5-inch 1080p display and is powered by a quad-core 2.26GHz Snapdragon 800 processor with 3GB of RAM. There is also a 2600 mAh battery, 32GB of internal storage space, a microSD card slot and 12 megapixel rear-facing camera with OIS.

Think of liquid cooling for its upcoming smartphones, HTC and Samsung!

HTC and Samsung, such as Apple, would study the possibility of a liquid cooling system for its upcoming smartphones. It is reported the DIGITIMES website which provides excellent heat dissipation of ultra-thin water cooling technology and doing fine for terminals speaks.

This type of solution is known in the world of the PC, smartphones use out. But the liquid cooling fast Samsung and HTC DIGITIMES sources believe could reach. At a time when, where to, not retained the heat dissipation is a real challenge, because to our phones in oven and in this way their lifetime the clamping components increasingly thinner and even more powerful though, that most of the operators change their phone well, until it no longer works...

HTC and Samsung believe water cooled!

This kind of technology, see the Utlrabooks for example, but also smaller tubes suggest to be the challenge with mobile phones. A first model of NEC, which gave media, uses a liquid cooling tubes 0.6 mm, i.e. two times smaller than the Ultrabooks! Man can therefore expect to see this technology already as 2014 at the major manufacturers of smartphones, certainly on the high range of terminals first.

Google's Larry Page talks up Motorola's upcoming products

We're all chomping at the bit to see what Motorola -- which has been largely silent since being purchased by Google, finishing up its decidedly "not wow" product lines -- will bring to the table in 2013. Today, Motorola got a ringing endorsement from Google CEO Larry Page.

"In today's multiscreen world, the opportunities are endless," Page said during Thursday's first-quarter earnings call. Specifically, Page mentioned a couple features.

Battery life and durability were the focus of Page's praise. He didn't specifically mention features in any upcoming devices, but spoke more broadly. Still, it doesn't require to huge leap to figure that that power and survivability are concerns for any smartphone manufacturer -- and particularly with Motorola, which has become the gold standard in battery life with its RAZR MAXX line, and those phones didn't exactly have glass jaws, either.

Said Page:

"Think about your device. Battery life is a challenge for most people. You shouldn't need to carry around a charger to make it through the day. If your kid spills their drink on your tablet, the screen shouldn't die. And when you drop your phone, it shouldn't shatter.

"Having just seen Motorola's upcoming products myself, I'm real excited about the potential there. In just under a year, they have accomplished a lot, and have impressive velocity and execution."

That follows up talk this week about Motorola taking a "Better is better" strategy in a world where the shotgun approach -- spraying phones all over the place, basically -- has taken over.

No hints yet, either, if we'll see anything new from Motorola next month at the Google I/O developer conference.

Upcoming title Arma Tactics makes us want Project Shield even more

We're all patiently waiting for the release of NVIDIA's Project Shield, but seeing things like today's mention of the new game Arma Tactics makes it seem like a long wait. It looks very much like a typical combat squad game on a console or the PC, including the incredible graphics and fine-tuned controls.

You lead your squad through close combat, with random missions and an endless variety of tactics can be used to finish them. Some of us would go the stealthy route and snipe the enemy, while others can rush in with barrels blazing. Either way sounds pretty damn awesome right now.

NVIDIA promises Arma Tactics to be "one of the best looking mobile games to date." The video certainly appears that way. Tegra 4 enhancements like complex textures and physics, or environmental effects (check out the smoke in the video) have really got me itching to play this one on the new hardware. 

NVIDIA says Arma Tactics is coming soon to Google Play, in the meantime hit the break and watch the video.
