NVIDIA SHIELD gets a Black Friday price cut

It looks like NVIDIA is trying to further tempt those who have been considering picking up a SHIELD game system. For Black Friday, or more specifically, for the Black Friday weekend, NVIDIA has lowered the price and is also including a few extras. And just to clarify the weekend timeframe, the Black Friday SHIELD offer will come to a close at 11:59 PST on December 2nd, 2013.

That being said, NVIDIA has cut $50 off the purchase price, which means the console can be picked up for $249.99. Along with that, those making the purchase will get a free SHIELD carrying case, said to be a $40 value, free shipping and two free games. The games include Sonic 4 Episode II THD and Expendable: Rearmed. This specific offer is available direct from NVIDIA.

In addition, the SHIELD is available by way of several third-party retailers including Gamestop, Best Buy and Amazon. Though, any specials will vary by retailer. One example is Gamestop, who are not offering the SHIELD with the case. Gamestop does include a $25 Google Play gift card though. Best Buy on the other hand, does appear to be including the case.

Simply put, if you are shopping for the SHIELD and looking towards third-party retailers, you may want to double check what is included with the offer. That all being said, we have spent quite a bit of time with the SHIELD since it was originally released and because of that we have some hands-on coverage as well as a full review. Not to mention, some additional coverage which can be found in the Story Timeline below, or in the full NVIDIA SHIELD hub.

Acer C720 Chromebook lineup expands with lower price of entry

Acer rolled out the C720 Chromebook lineup back in October. At the time that meant the C720-2800 which had a price tag of $249.99. Well, flashing forward a little more than a month and there is now a second model in the lineup. This latest is the C720-2848 and it brings a similar set of specs with a lower price point.

The Acer C720-2848 Chromebook is priced at $199.99. This one sports and 11.6-inch ComfyView HD display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 and similar to the earlier model, it is powered by an Intel Celeron processor based on the Haswell architecture. In other words, this one should still hold the same mix of performance and battery life. Acer suggests the C720-2848 will be able to provide up to 8.5 hours of run time.

Other specs for the C720-2848 include 16GB of SSD storage, 2GB of RAM, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, HDMI and a dual speaker setup. There will also be one each of USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports. The model will weigh in at 2.76 pounds and measure in at 0.75-inches thick. Similar to other Chromebook models, both from Acer and other manufacturers, the C720-2848 will come with some extra perks.

These extras include 100GB of Google Drive storage (free for two-years), Google Play Music All Access and 12 free Gogo Inflight passes. That all having been said, the Acer C720-2848 Chromebook is available beginning today and can be found with retailers to include Best Buy and Amazon.

Looking forward, this model will also be available direct with Acer, however the notebook is not expected to arrive in the Acer Store until December. There wasn’t specific mention of Play Store availability, but based on previous Acer Chromebooks, we expect this one will be sold direct with Google.

ASUS Miracast Dongle delivers Chromecast-like functionality at a higher price

Not everyone might be able to get their hands on Google’s fancy Chromecast HDMI dongle and might decide to settle on something that’s close enough. If you’re part of that set, then you might want to turn your eyes towards the ASUS Miracast Dongle which can be best described as being a mixed blessing.

It’s been a long time since the Chromecast went back in stock, and it’s definitely possible to purchase one from other channels. But for all the initial hype around the device, the Chromecast is by no means perfect. At least not in this particular iteration. The biggest wart on its USB dongle-sized face is its current near-exclusivity to YouTube and a limited number of supported sources, many of whom are big names in the media industry. While Google has promised that streaming of local content will be coming, that promise has yet to be fulfilled to this day.

Enter the ASUS Miracast Dongle, an almost similar device that doesn’t limit its sources, but also requires a mobile device in the first place. Unlike the Chromecast, which can stream content via the Internet, ASUS’ device basically just mirrors your phone or tablet display. The dongle, which also looks like a USB thumb drive, connects to a TV or monitor via an HDMI port. Unlike the Chromecast, it has to be plugged to a power source via its micro USB port. It’s maximum output resolution is 1920×1080 pixels and supports 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFI. Naturally, ASUS says that it works with it’s devices, including the 2013 Nexus 7. While the “Miracast” in the device’s name suggests that it is compatible any mobile device that supports the streaming standard, ASUS isn’t saying so, at least not explicitly. Here’s a short video explaining its basic features.

The biggest letdown with the ASUS Miracast Dongle is the price, which is expected to be tagged at 79 euros, roughly $110. Definitely a far cry from the Chromecast, which has a retail price of $35.

By Gabriel Manceau 14 June 2013

The Google glass are sold on the reproduction of store much less costly than she paid to the developer. If one could assume that American giants would not to his glasses, $1,500 for the general public for sale, it always comforting to know that the prices are those who for the nexus range, i.e. accessible will be.

Play store will receive the Google Glass as soon as 2014. In the meantime continue to developers that suggests more and more applications and ideas to the point that the development process forward quickly and glasses a much wider audience will offer beautiful things within a year. The information does not come from the company view of the mountains, but market analysts talk revolving around 500 euros about the fare, when it was launched.

The Google Glass on the store play for 500 euro?

If the technical features of the glasses are not necessarily impressive, the research and development that were needed in the design of the product could raise prices. Actually, the autopsy of the glasses revealed a dual-core processor TI OMAP4430, 1 GB RAM, 16 GB memory, a 570 mAh battery as well as Wi - Fi and Bluetooth. This is the kind of specifications you will find on a Smartphone input range for less than 150 euros.

The Google Glass on the game store would pay then high price before production chains are on the way and r & D costs written off Google. This is just a guess, but it's hard the huge Internet offer a product more than 500 euro for the general public, if this person has never used such technologies. The nexus-10 is the most expensive product on the online store currently 32 GB to 499 euros. Such a plan, it seems that you reasonable glasses?

Galaxy tab 3 7.0: an official ad but not at the price of the Tablet 7 inch

While we you tomorrow to the next Galaxy tab 3 8 inches, which is spoken today that Samsung only lift the veil on the Galaxy 3 7.0 tab is a new Samsung 7 inch Tablet expected for the month of WiFi versions can in the WiFi during one + 3 G will be available in June. A formal announcement, but still no detailed technical specifications of the price.

Featuring, like Galaxy leads touch 8.0 by three physical keys, the new Tablet 7 inch Samsung Android 4.1 user the TouchWiz overlay. Technical characteristics, it is clocked at 1.2 GHz with shoulder 1 GB RAM, and 8 or 16 GB of storage space on the midrange market with a dual-core processor expandable via MicroSD card Add.

A bit disappointing, this Galaxy tab screen resolution 1024 X 600 pixels is 3 7.0. Ditto for the only 1.3 megapixel camera, accompanied 1.3 mega pixels of a front camera.

It is to point out that the official press release from Samsung with focused largely the download on the multimedia performance of the aircraft, for argument offered speed of processor and its storage capacity. Entries are now found in every shelf. If the alleged "of life capture 1.3 mega pixel camera moments in stunning clarity", it goes for comments. I personally I expect version 8.

The Galaxy tab 3 7 inch is official.

With a performance that 7 inch Samsung takes the introduction of second generation of nexus 7, this new Tablet signed a few weeks ago a slight edge on the next Google tablet, but considering the fact the Google rather in relation to the configuration will offer, is Samsung who both count if it is sufficiently attractive to the price, and on the strength of the brand.
