MediaTek: unveiled the first true OCTO-core processor features

[Updated article updated July 29, 2013]

We have learned two days ago a confirmation of the work by MediaTek on its OCTO-AdR processore. The company has just take us some details.

While we ended in failure a possibility that turn 8 CPU cores of the S4 Galaxy discussed, this announcement provides the arrival of first and real processor-OCTO-core in the world!

At the base, "Octo-Core" true architecture embedded on mobile devices through the Exynos-5 processor not in reality. Only 4 cores running both on the 8 available, knowing full well that 4 cores are used for common tasks and 4 cores are solicited for demanding tasks.

MediaTek in contrast presented its solution by OCTO-core CPU with 8 cores continuously and offers both the performance in performance (up to 2 GHz clock) and in terms of energy consumption.

While the actual technology phase on our mobile devices will come, company hits certain benefits to the adoption of a processor-OCTO-core on our smartphones and Tablet PCs:

Advanced Web browsing : the possibility of assigning tabs from your browser for each processor core to liquid to make Web browsing and heavy treatments (clicks).Refined user interface : 3D effects administration is divided into the processor cores to a significant improvement in the GUI.Quality gaming experience : Multi-core calculations in real time, better management of the framerate in play and low-latency on the big licenses.Efficient video playback : Decoding HEVC (H. 265) allows the decoding of all your videos in full HD at 30 fps (Editor's Note: frames per second), reduces consumption by 18% in contrast to quad-core processors.

Finally, MediaTek offers a video to its operation in a relatively simple way to explain:

As expected, production mass has been announced for November, month for the samples delivered by some manufacturers.

[Update at the end]

Mediatek processor cores 8 works it should not delay, initiated its new customers, the path from Samsung. Already known as the MT6592, this new chip takes the same naming system as the other models in the range and should be between 1.7 and 2 GHz. A model, the long list of CPU Quad-core and dual-core currently offered by the company Chinese added.

A MediaTek 8-core processor, this is an ad in total contradiction with the recent statements of the producers, said a few months ago, from production through OCTO-core chips in the immediate future. But it's a secret, the technology industry is more ephemeral and new ideas come and go constantly.

A MediaTek 8-core processor, which should already be some value with views of the 5 okta of Samsung Exynos. The great Architektur.WENIG of the Exynos used two asymmetric Quad-cores which consist of four cortex A15S and four cortex A7, try games to compensate for the performance of the peaks of energy consumption during the next chip that MediaTek, allow to use the eight seeds at the same time.

It should be therefore eight-core ARM Cortex A7 already found in most of its products based on and run at a maximum rate of between 1.7 and 2 GHz. Of course first not to reach top performance with cortex-A7 are expected. And arrange eight cores to reach the A7 a score of 30,000 on AnTuTu just below the last processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 and above the Exynos (27 417) to allow 5 or the Snapdragon (25 900) 600.

Remains, of course, what newly engraved beats these 28 nm to define chip for the consumer, despite his power. And it seems that this potentially integrated a 4 G LTE modem, Chinese society has recently made large investments in this area could develop.

Start of mass production for the month of November for an arrival on the market for early 2014.
