LG no longer wants the Optimus brand for its high end use

By Gabriel Manceau 11 June 2013

The LG Optimus brand could no longer be used for the high-end devices of the manufacturer, a twist in its communication on the level of the name wants to take its terminals. An important decision affecting all communication around the South Korean manufacturer telephony branch.

LG was always considered "the other Korean brand" and often finds himself in the shadow of Samsung, the ubiquitous, is in his own country as well as at the global level, including through its Galaxy line. The comparison with the LG Optimus can also be made if Samsung has no trouble, selling its Galaxy line products from beginner to the most expensive Smartphone, which is the S4 Galaxy.

Is the essence regardless the quality of the goods, by his name? We take for example the LG Optimus G, which is a very good phone, will his successor sell better or worse, if it is not 'Optimus' stamped? If the success of the previous models has impact on the popularity of a Terminal, but it is not the essence. It is found with the HTC one, the successor of the HTC x, which could lead to confusion, the name was also subject to criticism.

However, the quality of the HTC phone has succeeded, get all the votes, and his name was passed on to second place. There are always counterexamples and it is hard to imagine Apple change, is that the name of his iPhone or Samsung not from Galaxy S5... LG will therefore keep to find their mark for entry and mid-tier and a new name for its high range terminals. Do you have an idea to the next line of products the manufacturers? The name of a product determine its success?

Fortunately, it should be presented next month. In addition, a first picture of the Smartphone just landed on the canvas as an integral part of the technical characteristics, revealed the presence of 4.7-inch a HD IPS screen and a Snapdragon-400, all under Android 4.1.2 processor.

Neither too ambitious nor modestly, the LG Optimus G9 propose II, like its predecessor, an alternative for all consumers who a good Smartphone, hands have want to spend without an exorbitant sum.

By Jean-Louis Petrod 31 May 2013

By early may, however, it had no idea design, which would carry this new device to a first picture of the LG Optimus G2 on the canvas, then give us a first idea surface. But leaks are numerous and not always very reliable, had to take this information with a pair of tweezers. Finally until today a new photo of the device are displayed only.

LG Optimus G2: the first pictures of the leakees G2

Benjamin André 5 may 2013

Images like the LG Optimus G2 might look is appearing on the Internet apparently without the consent of LG.

Evleaks would be noticed again! In fact, the Ninja of the Smartphone has put online prior to recent pictures what the LG Optimus G2 or a different model of the manufacturer LG, we have no information at the moment might look like. Arrival point called, shortly after the announcement, which could work on a new joint project, a nexus 5 so Google and LG or a LG Optimus G2.

Idem, the picture could be 4.7 inches, a speaker in the upper part, whose design is completely new for the sensor on the left side that exist on any smartphone from LG at this place a screen. Seem, this last suggestion is unlikely, but that the mechanical buttons at the bottom of the screen were replaced by the touch of two buttons on each side of the logo of LG, at least on the logo is also a touch down.

Although nexus 5 certainly is more, LG Optimus G2, which should come this fall, it is more likely that this picture of the latter is, because there is the logo only on LG phones, not the Smartphone from the partnership with Google. Rounded corners are a little reminiscent Samsung Galaxy... Little information from LG about the next models still clueless about the nature of this image.

It is that fact that these pictures of the LG Optimus G2 unlock the machine of communication and marketing (if these are not already active in the shadow of these images) and it is hoped could soon new information to be filtered.

LG Optimus G Pro: Un lancement en grandes pompes à New York

Jelly Bean update rolling out for European LG Optimus L9

Android Central

The LG Optimus L9 was introduced to European markets in the second half of last year as the then newest member of the Optimus L-Series of devices. We first went hands with the LG back at IFA 2012 in Berlin, we found a surprisingly nice mid-range device. Since launch, the L9 has been running Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, but now it seems that European owners are getting a Jelly Bean flavored treat on their devices.

According to reports, the update to Android 4.1 is rolling out in the Baltics region, Germany, Spain, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania and for the European Open devices. It can be downloaded via the LG Update Tool as well as OTA, but it's a pretty weighty one coming in at 575MB. What's more is the relative speed at which this update has appeared. LG traditionally isn't too good with software updates, but the L9 has received Jelly Bean now within six months of the device's launch. Still not amazingly fast, but given LG's record it's still pretty impressive.
